My journey as a cook on an Alaskan charter bear hunting boat. Having worked at a desk for 25+ years, I knew it was time for a change. Praying for a new direction in my career became a daily ritual. And then one day, an opportunity is handed to me, a chance to put my cooking/baking skills to the test by becoming the cook on the boat, BEAR out of Sitka, Alaska. Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine this.

The boat is now anchored in Ford Arm and no, I don't know exactly where that is on the map. Guess I should go look but what difference does it make? I'm on the boat and I go where the boat goes. Dinner tonight was Chicken spinach tortilla bake, green salad and a relish tray. Dessert is a blueberry/peach cobbler. Need to get started on their soup too but I have time. Byron is on the back deck fishing, he thinks he's gonna get something.... :-). I will let you know if that happens.
The weather is once again absolutely beautiful, sunny and warm. This kind of weather does not encourage the bears to come down to the beach though so for hunting purposes, this weather isn't the best. There are quite a few jelly fish in the waters around here, I can see them bobbing to the surface. Two of the hunters came back for a quick break but they will be off hunting again shortly. I decided on making steak soup for the evening snack. Have no idea how it will turn out, you know how I am with recipes. Oh well, they are usually so cold at that late hour, all they really want is something to warm them up, not even sure if they taste it. Guess a shot of whiskey would do the same thing but we don't have any of that on board.
